Katie Gold, an ENBE Senior BS student, received an honorable mention in the Young Engineer Paper Competition conducted by the Washington Society of Engineers. Her paper is titled "Organic Polymer-Coated Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: Synthesis and Growth Studies for in Vitro Biomedical Applications." Angela Bryl received The ASAE, the Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food and Biological Systems Student Honor Award for 2003-2004. This award is presented by ASAE on the basis of academic achievement, student branch participation, and other extracurricular activities. Laura Schumann and Hyo Lee each received The Washington, D.C. - Maryland Section of ASAE, the Society for Engineering in Agricultural, Food and Biological Systems Scholarship for 2003-2004. This scholarship is presented to an outstanding student based on academic achievement and contributions to the profession. Christina Pernia received The Robert L. and Frances C. Green Scholarship for 2003-2004. This award is presented in the Department of Biological Resources Engineering for academic achievement and contribution to the department and student branch. Stephen Reiling received The Department of Biological Resources Engineering's Outstanding Senior Award for 2003-2004. This award is presented by the faculty on the basis of academic achievement and contributions to the profession and the department. Caroline Serafinas received The Delmarva Safety Association Award for 2003-2004. This award is provided for students actively encouraging safety activities while in college. Bryant McIver received The Department of Biological Resources Engineering Outstanding Junior Award for 2003-2004. This award is presented by the Chairman on the basis of outstanding academic achievement and contributions to the department. Mark Vosburgh (NRMT student) received this year's National Recycling Trust Fund Scholarship from The National Recycling Coalition, Inc. |

Emily Devillier, an ENBE MS student, was awarded the Maryland Water Resources Research Center Summer Research Assistantship for 2004. Aisha Sexton, David Blersch, and Kalim Hanna each received a graduate fellowship for 2003-2004.
