The Biological Resources Engineering Department attempts to provide financial support for as many of its graduate students as possible. Both assistantships and fellowships are available on a competitive basis. Assistantships are provided both by ongoing research grants and by the university. Assistantships also are available through cooperative agreements with surrounding Federal agencies. Both teaching and research assistantships are available.

Research opportunities associated with assistantships are varied. Research assistants usually participate in current research activities. Some of these activities may make a contribution to their thesis or dissertation.
